We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Appointment Scheduler specialized in Orthopedics to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will coordinate patient appointments efficiently, ensuring seamless communication between patients and healthcare providers. Your expertise will help optimize clinic operations, improve patient experiences, and support the delivery of exceptional orthopedic care. Responsibilities
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments for orthopedic specialists using electronic health record (EHR) systems..
- Manage incoming calls with professional phone etiquette, providing excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to clinical confidentiality policies.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake processes, including appointment reminders and follow-up scheduling.
- Maintain accurate records of appointment details, cancellations, reschedules, and patient communications within clinic management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix when applicable.
- Assist with medical billing and collection processes related to appointment scheduling activities as needed.
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably within orthopedics or a related specialty such as sports medicine or physical therapy.
- Proficiency in EMR systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and health insurance procedures including Medicare.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism and excellent customer service skills.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) management and health information management practices.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times.
