After School Multi-Sports Instructor, Grant (Inglewood) Jobs in Los Angeles at YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles

Position Summary

Sports have the power to build confidence, teach resilience, create lifelong friendships, and inspire healthy habits that last a lifetime. As an After School Sports Instructor, you’ll introduce elementary and middle school students to the joy of movement, teamwork, and healthy competition through engaging after school sports programs. Whether you’re coaching Flag Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Softball/Baseball, Track and Field, or another sport, you’ll help young athletes build new skills while creating an environment where every participant feels welcomed, supported, and encouraged to succeed. Working alongside school districts, after school programs, and community partners, you’ll create experiences that strengthen confidence, promote belonging, and help students discover what they’re capable of both on and off the field. If you’re passionate about coaching, mentoring young people, and making a positive impact through sports, we’d love to have you on our team. This is a grant funded, seasonal position supporting school based after school programs during the academic year.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Coach engaging after school sports programs that help youth build athletic skills, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Teach age appropriate instruction through practices, games, skill development, leagues, tournaments, and special events across a variety of sports.
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where every participant feels a sense of belonging and is encouraged to reach their full potential.
  • Build meaningful relationships with youth, families, school staff, and community partners while serving as a positive role model.
  • Help ensure programs operate safely, effectively, and in alignment with YMCA standards while supporting a fun and rewarding experience for every participant.

Schedule

This is a part-time, seasonal position that follows the school calendar and is offered during the academic year on school days only. Instructors typically work 2 to 3 days per week, approximately 6 to 10 hours each week, with afternoon hours that fit well with school schedules. Depending on the program, additional opportunities may be available to support practices, tournaments, special events, family engagement activities, or staff trainings throughout the year.
