Overview
The Advanced Junior Tennis Professional is responsible for assisting in the development, instruction, and supervision of junior tennis programming at Charleston Tennis Club (CTC). This position focuses particularly on coaching intermediate to advanced junior players and supporting overall tennis operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong playing ability, enthusiasm for teaching, excellent communication skills, providing member services with an emphasis and commitment for advancing the game of tennis among CTC’s advanced junior players. The players under this Pro are often focused on high school to collegiate level of play and tournament play.
Duties:
Junior Player Development:
- Instruct intermediate and advanced junior tennis players in group clinics and private lessons.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of structured junior development clinics and court play.
- Provide technical instruction in stroke mechanics, footwork, match strategy, and conditioning.
- Monitor player progress and provide feedback to players, parents and school coaches.
- Support preparation of competitive match play and tournaments.
- Support participation in CTC play or other Junior Tournaments.
Club Coaching:
- Teach private, semi-private or clinic lessons at CTC, primarily for advanced Juniors.
- Demonstrate drills, techniques, and proper tennis fundamentals to all members.
- Encourage club play for all levels and ages at Charleston Tennis Club.
Operations Support:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe court environment.
- Assist with equipment and court management.
- Provide courteous and professional interaction with juniors, parents, coaches and guests
- Represent CTC in a positive and professional manner.
- If needed, assist and participate in promotions of CTC summer camps and all club tennis events and activities
Qualifications:
- Strong tennis playing background (high school varsity, college team, or equivalent competitive experience preferred).
- Prior coaching or teaching experience preferred.
- Commitment to working with CTC junior players of varying ages and skill levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive and energetic coaching style.
- Reliable, punctual, and team oriented.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and summer programming schedule
Preferred Certifications or Play Experience:
- RSPA Certification
- PTR Certification
- Collegiate Divisional player
Pay: $50,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
