Job Description Summary:
The Athletic Training Clinical Instructor supports the Athletic Training
program through oversight and evaluation of students’ clinical education experiences. This position
is responsible for coordinating clinical placements, monitoring student progress and clinical hours,
evaluating required clinical documentation, and supporting student success in clinical learning
environments.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or related field from an accredited institution
Current Board of Certification (BOC) credential or eligibility, if applicable
Professional experience in athletic training, sports medicine, rehabilitation, or related healthcare field
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, clinical sites, and healthcare professionals
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in athletic training or related discipline
Previous experience supervising or mentoring students in clinical settings
Familiarity with clinical education standards and documentation requirements
Experience in higher education or healthcare program coordination
Other Information:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and maintain student clinical placements in collaboration with clinical partners and program faculty.
Monitor and document student completion of required clinical hours and experiential learning requirements.
Review, evaluate, and maintain student clinical documentation, assignments, and required paperwork.
Assess student performance in clinical settings and provide timely feedback regarding progress and competency development.
Ensure students comply with program expectations, clinical requirements, professional standards, and site policies.
Communicate regularly with students, clinical preceptors, faculty, and affiliated clinical sites regarding student progress and placement needs.
Assist in maintaining accurate clinical education records and reports required for accreditation and program compliance.
Support students in developing professional behaviors, communication skills, and clinical competencies.
Participate in program meetings, orientations, and clinical education planning activities as requested.
Maintain current knowledge of athletic training practices, clinical education standards, and industry expectations.
Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or program director.
All applicants must demonstrate the ability to promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods, as well as relate to students. Excellent organization and communication skills as well as the demonstrated use of instructional technology are required.
