About Diamond AthleticsDiamond Athletics Cheer & Tumble is a 19,000 sq. ft. cheer and tumbling facility serving families in the Davisburg area. We’re known for perfect jump technique, correct tumbling progression, and individualized coaching . We’re launching and growing a Recreational Competition Program designed to give athletes a beginner-friendly, lower-commitment way to compete locally while building strong fundamentals and confidence.
The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Recreational Competition Director/Coach to build, lead, and coach our new recreational competition program. This role is ideal for a coach who loves developing athletes, creating a positive team culture, and building a program that families trust.You’ll partner closely with our Owner/Director of Operations and our coaching staff to create a clear season structure, run clinics/placements, and deliver high-quality practices and routines.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & Buildout
- Design and manage the recreational competition season calendar (clinics, placements, practices, competitions, showcase).
- Build a clear team structure (age/skill groupings) aligned with safe progression.
- Plan practice formats that emphasize:
- Jump technique and motion precision
- Safe stunt fundamentals
- Tumbling progressions by level
- Routine performance and clean execution
- Coordinate choreography, music, and routine cleaning (in-house or with vendors).
Coaching & Athlete Development
- Lead and/or support weekly team practices and skill development.
- Track athlete progress and communicate development goals in a positive, motivating way.
- Maintain a safe training environment and enforce gym safety standards.
Family Communication & Culture
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families regarding schedules, expectations, and competition details.
- Help set and uphold team policies (attendance, conduct, competition weekend expectations).
- Create a culture that is upbeat, respectful, and confidence-building for athletes.
Competition & Operations Coordination
- Select and coordinate local competitions (within a reasonable travel radius).
- Prepare teams for competition weekends (timelines, checklists, warm-ups, athlete readiness).
- Collaborate with staff on logistics, uniforms, and deadlines.
Recruiting & Marketing Support
- Support program growth through:
- Clinics and interest events
- In-gym recruiting and athlete recommendations
- Simple marketing support (photos/videos, short program info, community outreach)
- Work with Director of Operations on messaging that clearly explains the rec competition pathway (e.g., “placements, not tryouts”).
QualificationsRequired
- Cheer and/or tumbling coaching experience (youth programs preferred).
- Strong fundamentals knowledge: jumps, motions, safe progression, and basic stunting.
- Organized and reliable with strong communication skills.
- Comfortable leading groups and maintaining a positive, structured practice environment.
- Ability to work afternoons/evenings and Saturdays as needed.
Preferred
- Experience coaching competitive cheer (rec, school, all-star, or similar).
- Experience building programs, running clinics, or leading a team season.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Choreography and routine-cleaning experience.
Schedule & HoursPrimary gym hours are:
- Mon–Fri: 5:00 PM–8:00 PM
- Sat: 9:30 AM–12:00 PM
This role will typically include 4 afternoons/evenings per week plus some Saturdays, depending on the season calendar and team needs. Competition weekends will be required during the season.CompensationBased on experiencePath to Full-TimeThis position is designed to grow. As the recreational competition program expands, there is a clear opportunity to move into a full-time role with increased leadership responsibilities.
